Google News Initiative
Fighting Misinformation Lab
Fighting all forms of misinformation has always been at the core of good journalism.
To strengthen this work and help equip journalists with digital tools, the Google News Initiative is partnering with PA Media to develop an interactive learning experience. The Fighting Misinformation Lab will guide journalists through tools to help them make decisions in a high-pressure, deadline-driven news environment.
While we are not currently accepting applications for this lab, please sign up for our newsletter to get notified about future versions of this lab and other Google News Initiative programs.
Lab content
Participating news organizations will learn how to strengthen their workflows for identifying misinformation and using digital verification tools to avoid repeating falsehoods.
During the two-hour Lab, journalists will learn about user-generated content, geolocation tags, social media verification, and how to navigate complex issues in real time.
The Fighting Misinformation Lab follows the "Activity-Discussion-Input-Deepening-Synthesis" teaching methodology, which allows for in-depth exploration of the topic and has proven effective for adult learning.
